Grade School Camps - Winchester Thurston School

Full-day (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) experiences for Junior Pre-K through Grade 5.

These camps are designed by WT Faculty and Staff, as well as long-term program partners who design camps, often centered around their own passions, that engage in hands-on learning, creativity, exploration, and having fun.

What does an average camp day look like?

7:30 a.m. - 8:55 a.m. - Morning Care (Campers must preregister)

8:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.- Welcome and opening activity

9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - Big intro activity/project

10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - AM dry snack and recess

11:00 a.m.- 11:45 a.m. - Activity

11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Lunch/Recess/Quiet rest for JPK-Grade 2

1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Afternoon activity

2:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. - PM cold snack and recess

3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. - Activity

3:20 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. - Clean up, closing circle, prepare for dismissal

3:45 p.m. - 4:05 p.m. - Dismissal

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Aftercare (campers must preregister)

This is a sample structure of the day. The typical camp day may differ from theme to theme and day to day, but all campers will receive 2 snacks provided by WT and at least 3 recess/movement breaks throughout the day!

Creative Summer Learning - Campers have the chance to tap into their creativity and passions while practicing skills they use during the academic year. No matter the theme, each camp is designed with opportunities for creativity, engineering, curiosity, and inquiry.

Building Empathy and Experience - With often only a week together, campers step out of their comfort zone, practice empathy and understanding of others, gain teamwork skills, and build their confidence!

Emphasis on FUN - At the end of the day, we are at camp and here to be safe, happy, and have fun! If a camper is not having fun, we do our very best as a staff to try everything we can to make this the best summer yet.
