Lower School Curriculum
All of a sudden, "What did you learn today?" doesn't have a short answer.
Here, every day begins with wonder. The discovery of a worm in the Outdoor Classroom one sunny morning leads to a lesson on soil aeration and reading Doreen Cronin’s The Diary of a Worm. For these eager Pre-K students, natural curiosity leads to a day of exciting learning.
Our curriculum fosters inquiry, examination, the blossoming of intellect, and the purposeful cultivation of character. At the heart is a strong foundation of language arts, math, science, social studies, and the arts. Additionally, WT is the only local school to provide elementary-age computer science and both Mandarin and Spanish studies.
What really sets the Lower School at WT apart, though, is the active, engaged, hands-on learning you’ll find in every classroom, every outdoor learning space, and every playground. It sounds a lot like joy.
