Ann Condron Peterson Visiting Artist Endowment Fund

Ann Condron Peterson, beloved art history and studio art teacher at Winchester Thurston from 1965-1985, is remembered by her former students with great appreciation and respect. Ann died on Sunday, May 10, 2009, at the age of 92.

When Ann retired in 1985, the Ann Condron Peterson Visiting Artist Endowment Fund was established. Ann helped to establish a visiting artist program in 1981-82 with the year-long residency of Pittsburgh sculptor Mary Ann Gailliot. Other artists that she brought to the school include Philadelphia sculptor Joseph Brenman, who was at WT in 1984 for two weeks, and James Nelson, noted Pittsburgh painter, who spent many weeks in residence in the "bomb shelter," working on a huge canvas while interacting with students.

Winchester Thurston continues to invite professional artists to visit WT to teach classes, conduct workshops, and to show their work in our gallery. Your gift to the Ann Condron Peterson Visiting Artist Endowment Fund can help.
