Merit Scholarship Applications

Who is eligible?

We welcome new students entering grades 6–11, and currently enrolled fifth and eighth-grade students, to apply for scholarship consideration.

How much is the scholarship award?

Winchester Thurston offers two merit-based scholarships for Middle School and two for Upper School.

• One of the Middle School Merit scholarships will be for 25% of tuition, and one will be 50% of tuition.
• One of the Upper School Merit Scholarships will be 25% of the tuition, and one will be 50% of tuition.
• All merit-based scholarships are renewable annually through graduation.

How do I apply for a merit-based scholarship?

Prospective students who would like to apply must complete the admission process, submit the scholarship application below (which includes an essay submission), and participate in an interview.

Current WT students do not need to go through the admission process; they must submit the scholarship application below and participate in an interview.

Who is eligible?

The Middle School Arts Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship designed for students passionate about the arts with two specialized tracks: Visual Arts and Performing Arts. Open to both current WT 5th graders and external students entering grades 6-8, this WT merit scholarship supports young artists committed to pursuing their artistic discipline.

How much is the scholarship award?

This $5,000 annual merit scholarship supports students' tuition at Winchester Thurston from middle school through graduation. 

How do I apply for the Middle School Arts Scholarship?

1. Submit the Arts Scholarshop Intent to Apply Form below.
2. Request a teacher recommendation letter from an arts mentor.
3. Submit your portfolio (visual arts) or schedule your audition (performing arts) by emailing admission@winchesterthurston.org.
   • Portfolio reviews will take place after school on the same date as admission interviews
   • Auditions will take place on Saturday, February 21st, 2026. 

Who is eligible?

Made possible by the Hilda M. Willis Foundation, the Hilda M. Willis Arts Scholarship provides financial aid to a rising 9th or 10th grader who is new to WT, and who demonstrates a high level of skill, ability, achievement, and interest in a visual or performing art form. 

How do I apply for the Hilda M. Willis Scholarship?

Hilda M. Willis Scholarship Applications should be submitted no later than February 9th of every year.
