Mathematics
Early exposure and exploration in mathematical thinking, problem solving, and computation develops in our youngest learners the curiosity, tenacity, and higher-level thinking skills that will support their mastery and their enthusiasm for mathematics. Our mathematics classes in our Lower School curriculum are aligned with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ (NTCM) research-driven standards; we use the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum and supplemental materials from Singapore Mathematics Primary Math, University of Connecticut Mentoring Mathematical Minds, Otter Creek Mastering Math Facts curricula, as well as other sources as needed. Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade students at our Pittsburgh private school examine mathematical concepts and operations in developmentally appropriate increments.
