Three WT Students Recognized in the 2021 Carnegie Library Teen Media Awards

Junior Aria Narasimhan, senior Julia Stern, and seventh-grader Clara Gordon earned Honorable Mentions in the 2021 Carnegie Library Teen Media Awards in which there were more than 200 submissions from young adults in Allegheny County.

The Awards are divided into two parts, The Ralph Munn Creative Writing Awards and the Labsy Awards, that recognize a broad range of creative work.

The Ralph Munn Creative Writing Awards
Aria and Julia both submitted short pose pieces to the 2021 Ralph Munn Creative Writing Contest. As part of their success in this contest, both students’ pieces were published in the 2021 Ralph Munn Creative Writing Anthology among other top-rated submissions.

Their pieces were developed in WT English Courses:  Aria wrote “The Affected” as culminating piece of the short story unit in “American Literature,” a tenth-grade course, and Julia wrote “On Being Anonymous” in AP English Language.

Labsy Awards
In addition to Julia’s success in the Ralph Munn Creative Writing Contest, Julia also was recognized in the Labsy Awards for the short film “Polish Politics,” which received an Honorable Mention in the Filmmaking category.

Middle School student Clara Gordon also earned an Honorable Mention in Photography for “One world: Humans and animals together.”

Congratulations to all!
