This year, both the Girls and Boys Soccer teams saw much success
Girls Soccer Makes WT History
For the Girls Soccer team, this was a historic season: In just its fifth year as a WPIAL contender, the team qualified for playoffs for the first time in the history of the program.
The team, led by Head Coach Parus Nischal ’13 and Assistant Coach Jivak Nischal ’18, started as a club sport in 2015. Through the determination of a strong group of students and the encouragement of Assistant Coach and mentor, Upper School Science Teacher Dr. Lynn Horton, the team debuted as an independent varsity sport in 2016, and gained entry to the WPIAL the following year.
The Bears will take on Riverside in the first round of playoffs on Saturday, October 23 at noon.
Boys Soccer: Undefeated Section Champions
The Boys Soccer team had an incredible regular season. The Bears, led by Head Coach Adam Brownold (Middle School Faculty) and Coaches Josh Andy (Upper School Faculty), Dave Piemme (Middle School Faculty), Jason Snyder, and Mac Gray, remained undefeated throughout the season and were Section Champions once again
The Bears clinched the #2 seed in the WPIAL Class A Boys Soccer Championship and will take on Jeannette in the first round of playoffs on Tuesday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m.
WPIAL playoff tickets can be purchased online. General admission tickets will also be sold at the gate. Please note that student tickets are only available to be purchased online.
Congratulations to both teams and best of luck in the postseason!
