Senior Raemon Prunty Wins Elbert Hatley Male Leadership Award

Here at WT, students' academic, intellectual, and extracurricular pursuits are grounded in civic responsibility and engagement. Senior Raemon "Rae" Prunty, an avid community volunteer, is the latest student recognized for fully embodying these WT values.

On November 2, Rae was honored with the 2017 Elbert Hatley Male Leadership Award at the Small Seeds Development, Inc.'s annual Plant a Seed event. Named for Mr. Elbert Hatley, who was known as the "Mayor of the Hill District," the former Director of the Hill Community Development Corporation and a member of the Small Seeds Board of Directors, the award recognizes young men and boys who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in Small Seeds' programming, as well as in their community.

Rae received this award for his involvement in the organization's Mother to Son program and for his ongoing community volunteer efforts. Rae volunteers at the Free Store in Braddock and 412 Food Rescue. He also works at Superior Motors.

Congratulations, Rae!

Small Seeds Development, Inc. has provided social services and educational support in the Pittsburgh metro area since 1999. The organization's goal is to provide economic prosperity, promote social well-being, and strengthen the family unit in order to build strong and safe communities.
