How to get to Winchester Thurston

Coming from the South Side of Pittsburgh

Start by heading towards the Birmingham Bridge, then cross over and follow the signs to Forbes Avenue. Stay on Forbes – you’re gonna drive through Oakland. You’ll pass Pitt’s Cathedral of Learning, so you’ll know you’re going the right way.

Keep going straight until you hit Morewood Avenue. When you see Morewood, make a left. Go up a few blocks, and 555 Morewood will be on your right. It’s just past Carnegie Mellon University, near the edge of Shadyside.

If you’re coming during rush hour, give yourself some extra time, traffic through Oakland can get backed up pretty quickly.

Coming from the North Side of Pittsburgh

Head towards the Fort Duquesne Bridge and take that across the river and get onto I-376 East. You’ll want to follow the signs for Oakland and Monroeville. It’s only a couple of miles before you take the Forbes Avenue exit.

Once you’re on Forbes, just keep going straight. You’ll pass through Oakland, and you’ll see all the Pitt and CMU buildings. When you hit Morewood Avenue, make a left. Keep going up Morewood, and 555 will be on your right – it’s right near Carnegie Mellon, just as you’re getting into Shadyside.

Coming from the East End of Pittsburgh

If you're coming from the East End, like Squirrel Hill or Point Breeze, here’s how to get to Winchester Thurston:

Get onto Fifth Avenue and head towards Shadyside. Keep going on Fifth until you see Morewood Avenue.

When you get to Morewood, make a right. Go up a bit, and 555 Morewood will be on your left. It’s near CMU, right before you hit Ellsworth.

Traffic can be a bit hectic around the universities, so just keep an eye out for students crossing the road. You’ll be fine!

Coming from the West End of Pittsburgh

Coming from the West End, like Green Tree or Crafton, here’s how to get to Winchester Thurston:

Get on I-376 East and head through the Fort Pitt Tunnel. Once you come out of the tunnel, you’ll be on the Fort Pitt Bridge, and you want to stay to the right to keep on I-376 East towards Monroeville.

After a few miles, take the Forbes Avenue exit into Oakland. Once you’re on Forbes, just keep going straight. You’ll drive through Oakland, and you’ll see Pitt’s Cathedral of Learning on your right. Keep going until you hit Morewood Avenue, then make a left.

Go up a bit on Morewood, and 555 will be on your right. It’s right near CMU, kind of where Oakland meets Shadyside. Be ready for some traffic around the universities, especially during busy hours.
