Early Childhood Program
Two Campuses:
PK/K at the City Campus
Our City Campus-an integral part of Pittsburgh's East End for more than a century-features a dynamic learning environment that blends the diversity of a school located in the city's educational and cultural heart, with the safety of a close-knit, welcoming community.

PK/K at the North Hills Campus
Our North Hills Campus offers our youngest learners an idyllic place where they can scoop tadpoles from the pond, observe wildlife habitats up close, and design and lead outdoor explorations during all four seasons.

A Responsive Approach to Learning
From the students' earliest years, we introduce the concept of community. Our teachers bring to their classrooms a full understanding of how children learn, and they build the curriculum around the curiosity of each individual child.
Our entire Lower School program-Pre-K through grade 5-is grounded in the Responsive Classroom approach, which consists of practical strategies for bringing together social and academic learning throughout the school day.
The Early Childhood Program at WT provides:
- A small class setting of 14-16 students in a safe, secure, inspiring learning environment
- a curriculum that brings together social and academic learning
- an introduction to foreign language and culture study
- an art curriculum that is art history based
- exploration and experimentation that is informed by children's interests
- enriched and unique learning environments - indoor and outdoor
- students and families who take tremendous pride in the WT school community
- Full and half-day schedules which include specials and academic work
- Extended day and after school programs options which allow children to be dropped off as early as 7:30 a.m. and picked up as late as 6:00 p.m.
